Thank you all for contributing to a successful first half of the Toastmaster Year.  The District has met or exceeded 3 of the 5 goals to be distinguished and, with your continuing effort, should have the number of CC’s and membership payments to meet all those goals by year end.

We are in the mid-year club officer training period and are off to a great start in this process.  Officers have till February 28th to complete the training and claim the second half of DCP #9.  Those clubs that have all their officers attend training will also claim the 747 award.

It is also a time of contests, renewals, and awards. With the District International and Evaluation Contest set for April 27 and 28, the Divisions will be holding their contests in early April and look for Areas to hold contests in the later half of March.  Clubs should be gearing up for club contests in early March.  All the forms you need are available online at the Toastmasters Web site.

By the end of February, club treasurers should remind their members that club dues are due by March 31st.  Once you have six members’ dues, enter the renewals online to guarantee that on time renewal. Don’t wait until the last minute.

We have 18 members who have been awarded the Triple Crown pin so far this year. The Triple Crown pin is an Outstanding Member pin awarded to anyone who completes three educational awards during the Toastmaster Year.  We have also awarded 7 Ambassador Award Ribbons so far this year. Claim your Ambassador Ribbon, which can be attached to a Toastmaster name tag, by visiting two clubs of which you are not a member, complete the Ambassador Form for each, and send the form to the District Governor.

April is also the time when new District officers will be elected.  Willie Johnson is looking for a few good Toastmasters to be next years Division Governors, LT. Governors and the District Governor.  If you’re willing, able and qualified, return the form he emailed out to all members in January. You have until March 1 to return the form.

Finally, Spring Conference – Look for great educational opportunities, wonderful meals, entertaining speech contests, numerous networking and relationship building moments – and, yes, the Business meeting with the election of a dynamic team of District officers for next year,  all rolled up into two days in April at the Fogelman Center on the University of Memphis campus in Memphis.

Happy Toasting
